Stop Worrying and Tell God what you Need

Comments 4 Standard

How is your walk with the Lord? satan is always out to destroy your relationship with God and one of his target zones is your prayer life.

Don’t worry about anything; instead, pray about everything.
Tell God what you need, and
thank him for all he has done.
 Philippians 4:6

God desires a relationship with you. In fact, the bible says to pray at all times, without ceasing.  There are times when we find quiet hidden time to spend time with Him, yet other times we are wrapped up  in busyness. I love the short prayers of Nehemiah, even though he was busy at work for the king or at work with the people, he constantly spoke to the Lord, lifting up His requests throughout the moments of his day.

When we pray, we are before God’s throne – seated in heavenly places. You see, because of what Jesus did for us, we have this great gift. Don’t cast it aside or consider nothing, because it is a great gift. Because of Jesus and by the power of the Holy Spirit – we are before the Lord, making our requests known to God, lifting up our praises and offering thanksgiving.

You don’t have to copy the way others pray or repeat the same prayer over and over – God knows you, He created you, He made your heart and understands you. Just go to Him,  the bible says even when we don’t know what to say, the Holy Spirit intercedes for you on your behalf.  How amazing is that!

Jesus said : “DO NOT  worry about everyday life—whether you have enough food to eat or enough clothes to wear. For life is more than food, and your body more than clothing.  Look at the ravens. They don’t plant or harvest or store food in barns, for God feeds them. And you are far more valuable to him than any birds!  Can all your worries add a single moment to your life?  And if worry can’t accomplish a little thing like that, what’s the use of worrying over bigger things?

“LOOK at the lilies and how they grow. They don’t work or make their clothing, yet Solomon in all his glory was not dressed as beautifully as they are.  And if God cares so wonderfully for flowers that are here today and thrown into the fire tomorrow, he will certainly care for you. Why do you have so little faith? “And don’t be concerned about what to eat and what to drink. Don’t worry about such things. 30 These things dominate the thoughts of unbelievers all over the world, but your Father already knows your needs.  Seek the Kingdom of God above all else, and he will give you everything you need. So don’t be afraid, little flock. For it gives your Father great happiness to give you the Kingdom”

We are commanded not to worry and that starts with disciplining yourself and not allowing your mind to wander off into fears and worry. If all your steps are ordered by the Lord and since He loves you dearly, you know that you trust in Him. Lift your head up, your help comes from the Lord.

God did not fill you with a spirit of fear, weakness, or of unsound mind. If you are a follower of Christ, you have been given a spirit of power, love and a sound mind.

Proverbs 31: definition of a Virtuous Woman :  SHE LAUGHS WITHOUT FEAR OF THE FUTURE, She is clothed with strength and dignity

ALWAYS PRAY AND NEVER GIVE UP. (LUKE 18:1), another verse tells us to ask and keep on asking, knock and KEEP ON. Be persistent in your prayers. I like the parable from Luke 18 of the annoying woman and the wicked king :

One day Jesus told his disciples a story to show that they should always pray and never give up.  “There was a judge in a certain city,” he said, “who neither feared God nor cared about people. A widow of that city came to him repeatedly, saying, ‘Give me justice in this dispute with my enemy.’ The judge ignored her for a while, but finally he said to himself, ‘I don’t fear God or care about people,  but this woman is driving me crazy. I’m going to see that she gets justice, because she is wearing me out with her constant requests!’”

Then the Lord said, “Learn a lesson from this unjust judge.  Even he rendered a just decision in the end. So don’t you think God will surely give justice to his chosen people who cry out to him day and night? Will he keep putting them off?  I tell you, he will grant justice to them quickly! But when the Son of Man returns, how many will he find on the earth who have faith?”

The bible tells us to fix our thoughts and this is key to three things:

  1. knowing God’s will for your life
  2.  being transformed into a new creation and
  3.  having God’s peace guard you heart and mind.

My thought test: (according to Phil 4:8)

  • is it true?
  • Is it praiseworthy?
  • is it righteous?
  • is it honorable?
  • is it pure?
  • is it just?
  • is it lovely?
  • is it of good report?
  • is it virtuous?
HEAR THE WORD OF THE LORD
  • “Listen to me, you who know right from wrong, you who cherish my law in your hearts. Do not be afraid of people’s scorn, nor fear their insults. Isaiah 51:7
  •  Say to those with fearful hearts, “Be strong, and do not fear, for your God is coming to destroy your enemies. He is coming to save you.” Isaiah 35:4
  • Good comes to those who lend money generously and conduct their business fairly. Such people will not be overcome by evil. Those who are righteous will be long remembered.  They do not fear bad news; they confidently trust the Lord to care for them. Ps 112:5-7
  •  Be on guard. Stand firm in the faith. Be courageous.Be strong. And do everything with love. 1 Cor 16:13-14

  1. Good Word. My family has been using Philippians 4:6 for a while. We’ve been through some trying times and have hung on to this verse and seen the Lord slay one giant after another.

  2. Thanks Lisa. Excellent teaching. Spiritual warfare often creates completely nonsensical consequences and weird attitudes but these are all signs to fight on. The battle is won by those who make their stand believing in the Word of God and who do not surrender to “real” circumstances that oppose it. Such “real” circumstances are but deceptive illusions against the promises of God. The senses reveal a very minor level of truth, but the Word of God reveals ALL Truth. Keep up the great work!

  3. People should really, really, really STOP asking God for things, but just thank him for everything good, and bad in your life, since you need everything to progress in your own life.
While you are at it, make sure you are as pure as you possible can before you present yourself before ultra sacred God!
Also… stop using words and start using the universal language: image/ “video” because is much more powerful and make sure you thank is majesty in the most pure form you human can!

    • I don’t know what religion you follow, but Jesus said : “Keep on asking, and you will receive what you ask for. Keep on seeking, and you will find. Keep on knocking, and the door will be opened to you.
Psalm 2:8 Only ask, and I will give you the nations as your inheritance, the whole earth as your possession
Psalm 86:5 O Lord, you are so good, so ready to forgive, so full of unfailing love for all who ask for your help

Jeremiah 6:16 This is what the Lord says: “Stop at the crossroads and look around. Ask for the old, godly way, and walk in it. Travel its path, and you will find rest for your souls. But you reply, ‘No, that’s not the road we want!’

1 John 5:14 And we are confident that he hears us whenever we ask for anything that pleases him

James 1:5 If you need wisdom, ask our generous God, and he will give it to you. He will not rebuke you for asking.

1 Timothy 5:5 Now a true widow, a woman who is truly alone in this world, has placed her hope in God. She prays night and day, asking God for his help

1 Timothy 2:1 I urge you, first of all, to pray for all people. Ask God to help them; intercede on their behalf, and give thanks for them

Colossians 1:9 We ask God to give you complete knowledge of his will and to give you spiritual wisdom and understanding

Ephesians 6:19 And pray for me, too. Ask God to give me the right words so I can boldly explain God’s mysterious plan that the Good News is for Jews and Gentiles alike.

Luke 10:2 These were his instructions to them: “The harvest is great, but the workers are few. So pray to the Lord who is in charge of the harvest; ask him to send more workers into his fields.

      Our Father in heaven,
may your name be kept holy.
      May your Kingdom come soon.
May your will be done on earth,
      as it is in heaven.
Give us today the food we need,
      and forgive us our sins,
as we have forgiven those who sin against us.
And don’t let us yield to temptation,
but rescue us from the evil one

People can ASK God for their needs, He cares for them and He wants them to trust Him. If they need healing, direction, wisdom or help – He is there to save us , to answer us and direct us
along the best pathway. And we pray with all thanksgiving, as we bring our requests to Him. We praise Him, He is our God. I don’t know what you are talking about – universal language.
