As I sat and wondered on all the things I am thankful for this thanksgiving, my mind keep going to all of God’s goodness. Certainly we have trials, troubles and tribulation in this life but we can rejoice in any state because God is always good, He is always merciful. This is what I am most thankful for during this Thanksgiving Holiday:
Elohim – The God who created all things, He is the Alpha and Omega creator of all. He is the great mathematician and the greatest scientist. Majestic sunsets stop me in awe, the way math and geometry work out so perfectly, it always amazes me. How could a scientist or anyone who studies math doubt that God exists? Look around! Each creature was given everything they need to survive on earth. How do two opposing sides of a triangle equal the opposite outside angle – all the time? Surely our God, Elohim, is amazing.
El Elyon – You are the Most High God, Mighty and powerful! His love endures forever. His hand is upon my life. God thinks it, He plans it, He speaks it, He makes it happen and NO ONE can frustrate His plans. He is always victorious! I remember all His great works both today and yesterday. I meditate on His works, how He saved Israel and brought them out of Egypt. He supplied all their needs. He brought water from a rock, He sent manna from the heavens, He opened the sea so they could walk across on dry land, He sent His angel to guide them , He lead them and kept them safe, the thoughts of His great works never end. He gives me strength, power, wisdom and knowledge. I exist because of Him. All my blessings are from El Elyon, my Most High God.
El Roi – O Lord, you see all my steps, you look down and know my thoughts, for you created my heart. You see everything. Your Word says that you look down on all the people of the earth, searching for those who are searching for you. Your eyes are on those who love and fear you, you keep them safe. The Lord see’s you and knows all you are going through. His thoughts of you outnumber the sands on the seashore. It’s just too amazing to think about.
Hosea 7.:2 : “Its people don’t realize I am watching them and I see them all
Ps 11:4 From heaven, the Lord watches everyone closely, examining each person on earth – both righteous and wicked.
El Shaddai- The Lord is the One who holds me, in whom I trust. Great and Mighty, the Lord is my All. His grace is sufficient for me, for power is perfected in weakness. What more do I need? It is only the Lord. In Him I find all I need.
Adonai – He is my beloved Lord and Master. He is my defense and my buckler. He always fights for me. In Him, I am victorious. I may live in a world of evil things, but the Lord protects me and covers me under His wings. No evil will touch me, my prayers reach His heights. He gives power to the weak and defeats our enemies. He is Lord above all, truly His loving kindness, tender mercies and unfailing love surround me all the days of my life.
Jehovah– There is no God like Jehovah! He is the God of Abraham, Isaac and Jacob.
Zechariah 2:8 For thus says the Lord of hosts: “He sent Me after glory, to the nations which plunder you; for he who touches you touches the apple of His eye “Sing and rejoice, O daughter of Zion! For behold, I am coming and I will dwell in your midst,” says the Lord. 11 “Many nations shall be joined to the Lord in that day, and they shall become My people. And I will dwell in your midst. Then you will know that the Lord of hosts has sent Me to you. 12 And the Lord will take possession of Judah as His inheritance in the Holy Land, and will again choose Jerusalem. 13 Be silent, all flesh, before the Lord, for He is aroused from His holy habitation!”
Let me tell you about my God….
Jehovah Jirah – The Lord who supplies all my needs and your needs. The Lord is my helper, I have set my face like flint to do His will. He is with me wherever I go. When I cried out to Him, He answered my cry. He sent His word from the heavens and comforted my heart. He supplies all our needs and blesses us with abundance so we can help others in need.
Jehovah Rapha – O Lord, this is one of my favorite of all your names! You are the Lord our healer. You are the God who heals, you protect all our bones, you care for each of us. God is our shelter and our protector.
“if my people, who are called by My name humble themselves and pray, and seek my face and turn from their wicked ways, then I will hear from heaven, will forgive their sin, and will heal their land. 2 Chr 7:14,
He heals the broken hearted.. He took away the curse and healed us. He set the captives free, healed the blind, and by His stripes we are healed. Ps 147:3
Jehovah Nissi– You are the God who fights for me, in You I am victorious. You are the Lord my Banner, you go before me and prepare a way and a safe path for my feet. I lift your name on High, you are my banner and my shield. We lift our hands up to the Lord, He will rescue us.
Jehovah Mekoddishkem – This is my top favorite name of the Lord! How can I describe this name of God? It is beyond words. He is to be honored, He is to be worshipped. In Daniel 3, Shedrach, Meshack and Abendego refused to bow down the golden statue made by King Nebuchadnezzaar even though they knew they would die if they didn’t. Their response to the king, is my response in this life as well “our God whom we serve is able to deliver us from the burning fiery furnace, and He will deliver us from your hand, O king. 18 But if not, let it be known to you, O king, that we do not serve your gods, nor will we worship the gold image which you have set up.”
Jehovah Shalom– The God of Peace, It is through the Lord God and His Son Jesus Christ that we receive this peace. His peace protects us, heals us, brings us joy and righteousness. God’s peace is an amazing gift I am so thankful for. It calms me in my storms, His peace quiets my soul, His peace heals my heart , His peace opens my ears to hear His voice and opens my eyes to the beauty of His creation and the blessings that surround me.1 Thes 5:2 The God of peace sanctifies us and makes our whole spirit, soul and body preserved blameless at the coming of our Lord Jesus Christ. Phil 4:7 The Peace that comes from God guards our hearts and minds through Christ : Be anxious for nothing, but in everything by prayer and supplication, with thanksgiving, let your requests be made known to God; 7 and the peace of God, which surpasses all understanding, will guard your hearts and minds through Christ Jesus.
Jehovah Sabaoth – The Lord of hosts, the Lord of heavens armies. When I imagine this, I think of Revelation 19 when Jesus arrives on a white horse with a great army behind Him. It also reminds me of the war the people of Israel fought when Aaron and Hur had to hold up Moses’ arms for them to win the battle. I wonder if lifting up our arms to the Lord in worship, praise and trust would also lead us to victory. Draw out that picture of the two men holdup up Aarons arms – I think it looks like a menorah….
Be still, and know that I am God;
I will be exalted among the nations,
I will be exalted in the earth!
11 The LORD of hosts is with us;
The God of Jacob is our refuge. Psalm 46:10-11
Jehovah Raah– The Lord is my Shepherd, He leads me along paths of still waters and restores my soul. Apart from Him, I can do nothing Phil 4:13. I think that the Shepherd, the rod and staff in Psalm 23 may symbolize the Father, Son and Holy Spirit. As our shepherd, He gives us rest, peace, all we need (surely my cup overflows), life, protection, safety and comfort. He leads me along the right paths and pulls me from the wide paths the world tries to lead me along. I never need to fear, for my Great Shepherd, Jehova Raah, is always near.
Jehova- tsidkenu :The Lord our righteousness – He made us righteous with Him through Christ Jesus. Through the death and resurrection of Christ, we have been made right before God, we are a holy kingdom of Priests before His throne. Is there any greater gift than that? To be able to stand before a Holy God, that He would make a place for us before Him, that He would hear us and answer our prayers. Truly I am thankful for the gift of prayer, that He hears my requests and my prayers for others. It is by the Passover lamb, the blood Jesus shed for us that we have this great gift to go into the temple and enter the Holy of Holies because Jesus made a way for us.
Jehovah- Shammah – The Lord is there. I know , without a doubt, the Lord is always by my side. He hears all my prayers, He leads me and He is always with me. “Behold I am with you, even until the end of this age”
Matthew 28: 18-20 And Jesus came and spoke to them, saying, “All authority has been given to Me in heaven and on earth. Go therefore and make disciples of all the nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit, teaching them to observe all things that I have commanded you; and lo, I am with you always, even to the end of the age.” Amen.
Abba, Abba: My Father in Heaven. I go to Him often, He is always there for me. My heart cries out to Him and I rest my head at His throne. In awe and silence I sit and behold His majesty.
My Advocate : he defends me and intercedes for me before the Lord. He makes me right in His sight.
Lamb of God: He is our passover lamb, He shed His blood for us that we would be saved from death. Amen and Amen. He is to be glorified forever
Messiah: He is our savior. One day every knee on heaven, on earth and below the earth shall bow down to Him. What a great day that will be
Rock: He is the Rock of living water
Cornerstone: the rock that was rejected became the cornerstone
King of the Jews : Immanuel, God with us, is His name
He is the way, the truth and the life, no man goes to the Father except through Him
