The bible tells us the many ways the Lord protects us. He protects us from the wicked, from illness, from traps, from the evil one and He protects us from destruction.      I believe that God’s words are a gift for us; they are a sword, a weapon and our protection. Are you speaking and believing His word? Last night I dreamt that all my words became a sword in my hand. I didn’t understand it while I was dreaming. I just noticed that everything I spoke turned into a sharp silver sword in my right hand –  it would suddenly appear out of nowhere when I spoke. I understood when I woke up, that this is the sword of the Lord- a gift- for us – our protection from evil. Use it!  Don’t be like the lazy steward who hid his gifts, but study, learn, seek Him and speak God’s Word in Faith.    It’s good to remember these verses of protection when terrifying times come- disasters, tornadoes, earthquakes, hurricanes, etc….  Last year my family and I were on a beach vacation during a hurricane. The beach home we rented was shaking throughout the night and the furniture was moving back and forth, sliding throughout the room. Our outside beach chairs were being tossed around the patio and the screaming howl of wind was heard all night.  Other beach homes, just about 8 miles down the road, had completely collapsed and the night was frightening. My children and I clung to each other as the wind howled through the roof. I had two verses of protection that I looked up at that moment. I said them over and over until we all had peacefully fallen asleep, fully trusting in every word we heard- that the Lord would protect us. I remember each time I said the words, fear would begin to disappear. Soon, one child after the other would fall asleep listening to  God’s words. The wooden beach house continued to shake with the wind, but we trusted in the Lord. With that trust, we had safe and restful peace.  Peace and a full trust in the Lord overflowed in my heart.  I don’t know what lies ahead for this upcoming storm season, but I want to have scripture ready for that time.      When Hurricane Andrew destroyed parts of Miami, we saw miracle after miracle of lives saved. Houses were completely demolished except for the one room the families had hidden in. God is truly amazing and trustworthy. As much as I love storms and hurricanes, they have become more and more terrifying. I will trust in the Lord and cling to Him. He saves me and my family. Amen. Promises of God’s Protection I will both lay me down in peace, and sleep: for thou, Lord, only makest me dwell in safety. In peace I will lie down and sleep,  for you alone, O Lord, will keep me safe Psalm 4:8 For you are my hiding place; you protect me from trouble. You surround me with songs of victory Psalm 32:7 The Lord is my light and my salvation— so why should I be afraid? The Lord is my fortress, protecting me from danger, so why should I tremble? Psalm 27 I trust in the Lord for protection. So why do you say to me, “Fly like a bird to the mountains for safety! ⁴ But the Lord is in his holy Temple;  the Lord still rules from heaven. He watches everyone closely, examining every person on earth. ⁵ The Lord examines both the righteous and the wicked.  He hates those who love violence. ⁶ He will rain down blazing coals and burning sulfur on the wicked, punishing them with scorching winds. ⁷ For the righteous Lord loves justice.  The virtuous will see his face ps 11 I love you, Lord; you are my strength.  The Lord is my rock, my fortress, and my savior; my God is my rock, in whom I find protection. He is my shield, the power that saves me, and my place of safety.  I called on the Lord, who is worthy of praise, and he saved me from my enemies. You rescue the humble, but you humiliate the proud. Ps 18 For God has not given us a spirit of fear, but of power and of love and of a sound mind. 2 Timothy 1:7 He will cover you with his feathers. He will shelter you with his wings. His faithful promises are your armor and protection. Psalm 91:4 For he will order his angels to protect you wherever you go Psalm 91:11.  This I declare about the Lord: He alone is my refuge, my place of safety; he is my God, and I trust him.  For he will rescue you from every trap and protect you from deadly disease.  He will cover you with his feathers. He will shelter you with his wings. His faithful promises are your armor and protection.  Do not be afraid of the terrors of the night, nor the arrow that flies in the day. Do not dread the disease that stalks in darkness, nor the disaster that strikes at midday. Though a thousand fall at your side, though ten thousand are dying around you,  these evils will not touch you.  If you make the Lord your refuge,  if you make the Most High your shelter,  no evil will conquer you; no plague will come near your home.  For he will order his angels to protect you wherever you go.  They will hold you up with their hands so you won’t even hurt your foot on a stone.  You will trample upon lions and cobras; you will crush fierce lions and serpents under your feet!  The Lord says, “I will rescue those who love me. I will protect those who trust in my name.  When they call on me, I will answer; I will be with them in trouble. I will rescue and honor them.  I will reward them with a long life and give them my salvation.” The Lord says, “I will rescue those who love me. I will protect those who trust in my name. Psalm 91:14 Every word of God proves true. He is a shield to all who come to him for protection Proverbs 30:5 The Lord protects all those who love him, but he destroys the wicked. Psalm 145:20. The Lord is my rock, my fortress, and my savior; my God is my rock, in whom I find protection.He is my shield, the power that saves me, and my place of safety.He is my refuge, my savior, the one who saves me from violence.2 Samuel 22:3-4 Who shall separate us from the love of Christ? [shall] tribulation, or distress, or persecution, or famine, or nakedness, or peril, or sword? As it is written, For thy sake we are killed all the day long; we are accounted as sheep for the slaughter. Nay, in all these things we are more than conquerors through him that loved us. For I am persuaded, that neither death, nor life, nor angels, nor principalities, nor powers, nor things present, nor things to come, Nor height, nor depth, nor any other creature, shall be able to separate us from the love of God, which is in Christ Jesus our Lord. Romans 8:35-39

I live in the shelter of the Most High And I find rest in the Shadow of the Almighty This I declare about the Lord on High, He alone is my rock and my safety He is my refuge and where I go to hide When my enemies surround me And a thousand fall at my side Traps and snares try to grab me But the Lord rescues and I rejoice gladly Deadly diseases and a world of evil things Yet My God covers me and protects me under His wings His promises are yes and true Our armour, protecting me and you I will not be afraid of the terrors in the night Though the world tries to fill each heart with fright The Lord goes before me, He strengthens me with His might No evil can touch me, my prayers reach His heights For I know He hears each word I pray Protecting me each night and every day I have made the Lord my refuge, a shelter is He Therefore He’s promised no evil can conquer me Plagues cannot touch those I love His angels protect me, commissioned from above They hold me up with their hands And protect me as I walk through this land I love my God, whose throne is on High And Jesus, His Son, on His right Side He is with me through all my troubles and fear Always besides me, always near.

Count it all joy when you run into problems and fiery trials Having Hope in your storms Do not fear man- lessons from Deut 1-2 My dear friends, May the Lord bless you and protect you. Remember all the Lord’s promises are true and amen in Christ Jesus.  The Lord is a shield for all to look for him for protection. He will protect you wherever you go, for His name is a strong fortress. Run to Him for safety. God has not given you a spirit of fear, but of power, love and self discipline.  Do not fear bad news, but confidently trust the Lord to care for you. He will strengthen you when you feel faint. Wait on the Lord and He shall renew your strength.
